Lush and green, the place to be seen!
On those days when I just can’t be bothered with a long walk, I take Blue to the local oval for him to run and roll and sniff till the cows come home.
The local Shire do a great job of keeping the grass even and lush, therefore Blue loves gently galloping across the oval as its soft and pleasant on his paws! We also like to wander amongst the stock yard enclosures close by - Blue’s sniffing goes into overdrive there. (Bit rougher on the paws though.)
There are public toilets at the Rec Centre and plenty of ‘poo bags’ available from a number of ‘bagging stations’ onsite.
The Carnamah Bowling Club is positioned beside the oval via a small ramp. Its open most evenings where you can buy a drink or two and they serve a meal every Friday night for a great price. (The meal available that evening is always pasted on the local Post Office door window a day or two earlier so you can get a heads up of what will be served. BTW, you’ve got to check out the Powder Rooms of the Club, they have a delightful ‘vintage vibe’ about them.)
Farm suppliers Elders and Nutrien are very supportive of local sporting events.
Walk up this ramp to the delights of the CA Bowling Club.

If your rug-rats need to jump around and stretch their legs while Fido has a stroll, you’ll find an enclosed playground just west of the oval.

WINCHESTER CEMETERY

The Winchester site is a beautiful bush cemetery.
Stroll and reflect
I’ve always felt like cemeteries are like art galleries.
The environment is quiet and serene.
The shapes, decorations, and titles of the ‘sculptures’ (headstones) command you to look at them.
And all the while, the actual information on the headstones is always thought provoking… just like art is. The cemetery has been in operation since 1927 so there are many plots to view.
Blue and I have visited this cemetery many times now and we always appreciate its tranquility. It also boasts the most spectacular collection of banksia trees on the east side of the cemetery. They are glorious and the bees who spend time there provide a delightful soundscape.
This may sound a bit crazy, but when we visit the cemetery, Blue and I always make sure to ‘visit’ Harry and Eunice Rowland. They originally owned the Carnamah house that Blue and I reside in, so in a unique way, they feel like family to us. xx

Quriky and rusty - Fun and dusty
Located not too far way in the Shire of Perenjori is a wonderful place full of fun, humour and environmentally friendly creativity! This Park is a wonderful example of how to repurpose ‘old stuff’ to create something unique and new. There are nooks and crannies for the dogs to sniff out as well as established paths that are kind to older knees.
Whenever Blue and I have guests that come up to Carnamah, we ALWAYS take them to this park. Everyone loves how quirky and interesting it is. (We actually refer to as the ‘Latham Junk Yard Park’ because we love seeing the ‘junk’ on display.)
Be sure to check out the names of the founding families and awesome folks of the area on the Centenary Wall, hence the name of the park! BTW, there’s a fridge library onsite if you need a new book to unwind with after a day of travelling and there are toilets close-by, so you can leave your shovel in the car for this visit.
