The Bank Gallery showcases exhibitions of artists completing their residency in Carnamah to inspire locals, visitors, and students across the Mid West. If your dog does well on their lead and tends not to jump on people (or objects), then they are more than welcome to join you as you explore the art on display.
This fabulous space hosts exhibitions, art workshops, and other community events. I have taken Blue to numerous art exhibitions held here and he has always been welcomed with smiles, pats, and even some tasty treats right from guest’s snack plates. So you can imagine, Blue loves visiting The Exchange!
Around the town of Carnamah is a wonderful collection of murals depicting country life. Put your doggo on a leash, buy a coffee, and walk up and down Macpherson Street, Robertson Street and Yarra Street, for an informal art trail.
While having a gander at the mural on Yarra Yarra Street, it’s worth noting that the supermarket its painted on stocks a hearty supply of dog toys, worming tablets, leads & collars, and pet food. This supermarket and liquor store is open from 8:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings from 8:00am to midday. (Herby loves popping in to buy the $1.00 chocolate bars they have on special from time to time.)
Blue had lived his first five years of life in the gorgeous seaside town of Kalbarri, so he was well and truly a ‘beach-fur-baby.’ Carnamah in comparison is flat and dry. The closest beach is 75 minutes away.
The first time I took Blue to the beach was at Two Rocks (north of Perth) and I just saw him come ALIVE. He was giddy with happy zoomies splashing and running up and down the beach. This made me realise that we really needed to make beach trips a regular occurrence.
Carnamah is 75 minutes away from the coast so a trip to the beach takes a little more planning than a spontaneous jaunt. Our favourite dog beach is the southern Jurien Bay dog beach. But there are also delightful dog beaches at Leeman, Green Head, Cervantes and we also LOVE South Beach at Port Denison.
Finish your day off right, and bring your dog at last light
For a play and a run with some other dogs
With any luck, we’ll also hear frogs!
Between 5pm & 6pm at the CA footy oval
Time spent there is sure to be jovial
If you’re doing it tough, or you’re doing it swell
We’d love to you see you and your dog as well
Locals, visitors, blow-in’s - everyone is welcome. It doesn’t even matter if you don’t have a fur baby, just come and enjoy the energy of happy dogs!
It's so PAWesome to welcome new doggos (and their owners) to our CA Doggy Play sessions.
From running these sessions for a while now, we're seeing a pattern with new dogs:
1st session: they are happy but overwhelmed and show a lot of submissive body language and/or defensive barking. It can be a bit anxiety provoking for the owners, but the first step is always the hardest.
2nd session: they're more comfortable with the energy of dogs around them but are still a bit wary and hesitant.
3rd session: the new doggo shows more confidence in their dog interactions and we start to see their true personality come out.
4th session onwards: they are initiating play with other dogs; confident to grab a toy, and are ecstatic to run with the pack.
It's beautiful to see their confidence and social engagement grow over time! 😍🐾💙😍🐾💙
Massive CHEERS to all those who make the time to bring their dogs to Doggy Play sessions (whatever your location).
Our dogs are so much healthier for it! 🐾🌞🐾🌞🐾🌞🐾
