CARNAMAH TIP
Bunjil-Carnamah Road, Carnamah
best view of the town
Its so funny that the best view of the town of Carnamah is at the local tip!
It provides an excellent view of the shining white presence of the Yarra Yarra Lakes.
Mr Blue and I head up here all the time to see what treasures are being thrown away that may receive a second lease of life in our yard.
Blue LOVES exploring the smells, objects, and all of the mess up there. We’re always on the look out for old CDs to throw like frisbees into the wind!
Heads Up - the tip is actually a pretty busy place. There are quite a few domestic and business rubbish drop-offs that occur at all times of the day… every day. So keep your dog lead close by if your beast is like our Blue who loves to bark at and chase the cars that come by.

CARNAMAH GOLF COURSE
Old Telegraph Road, Carnamah, Western Australia, 6517
GOLF STROLL
As you may already know, Carnamah is a HOT place to be in the summer months. Just like the Yarra Yarra Lakes Look Out, the Carnamah Golf Club provides a cool reprieve from the intense heat. Blue and I have often sat on the tee off platform overlooking the 10th hole to enjoy the strong breeze that blows through the area while taking in its tranquil view.
From April to October, feel free to wander along the course with your pooch. November to March is a tad risky for a walk as you may very well come across a snake!
Here she is. Hole #10. Stand right here and let the wind blow over you.

1869 MACPHERSON HOMESTEAD
Bunjil-Carnamah Road, Carnamah, Western Australia 6517
up, pup, and away!
A favourite place of mine has always been the 1869 Macpherson Homestead. Its the perfect place to sit down with a coffee and take in a charming view of the town accompanied by the gentle sounds of the wind rustling through the she-oak trees. I now realise that its also a wonderful place to take your dog for a walk!
Blue and I love to walk down the long driveway entered via Carnamah-Bunjil Road and wander around the homestead: right around the veranda and out to the semi-restored kitchen. We also love exploring the old, rusty, cars and vintage farming equipment on display. But the most fun is when we step up into the semi-restored Workman’s Quarters. Blue get’s to show that he has some mountain-goat in him as he jumps up on the reconstructed walls and sits on the very top to take in the view.
The Carnamah Historical Society have a sensational Virtual Exhibition about the Macpherson Family. Click on the links below to learn more about this enterprising family and the homestead itself.
Exploring the grounds of the Macpherson Homestead leading up to sunset offers a golden experience.
