up, pup, and away!

A favourite place of mine has always been the 1869 Macpherson Homestead. Its the perfect place to sit down with a coffee and take in a charming view of the town accompanied by the gentle sounds of the wind rustling through the she-oak trees. I now realise that its also a wonderful place to take your dog for a walk!

Blue and I love to walk down the long driveway entered via Carnamah-Bunjil Road and wander around the homestead: right around the veranda and out to the semi-restored kitchen. We also love exploring the old, rusty, cars and vintage farming equipment on display. But the most fun is when we step up into the semi-restored Workman’s Quarters. Blue get’s to show that he has some mountain-goat in him as he jumps up on the reconstructed walls and sits on the very top to take in the view.

The Carnamah Historical Society have a sensational Virtual Exhibition about the Macpherson Family. Click on the links below to learn more about this enterprising family and the homestead itself.

Exploring the grounds of the Macpherson Homestead leading up to sunset offers a golden experience.
